Noirvember Double Feature | Angel Face (1952) & The Big Heat (1953)

Celebrate Noirvember with us and see two iconic Film Noirs on the big screen for the price of one at our special Double Feature Matinee on November 9th. We are starting things off with a classic from Otto Preminger- ANGEL FACE, then following up that with one of the most iconic films in the Film Noir Genre- THE BIG HEAT! 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 at countytheater.org/specials

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗟 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗘 (𝟭𝟵𝟱𝟮) ANGEL FACE is a Freudian-inflected noir starring Robert Mitchum and Jean Simmons. An ambulance driver becomes entangled with a wealthy young woman who lures him away from his girlfriend and into moral compromise. Simmons’ performance ranks as one of the top femme fatales of all time. On loan from Fox, Preminger added this gem to his string of stellar noirs that started with Laura in 1944. ANGEL FACE is elegant, eerie, and ultimately devastating. And it features one of noir’s most audacious endings. With Herbert Marshall and Mona Freeman.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗜𝗚 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗧 (𝟭𝟵𝟱𝟯) THE BIG HEAT is a revenge-fueled drama from Fritz Lang that’s as hard-boiled as they come. Starring a tightly wound Glenn Ford as an idealistic police detective whose investigation of a crime syndicate becomes devastatingly personal. Memorably costarring Gloria Grahame as a mink-coated moll in perhaps her best-ever performance and Lee Marvin as a sensationally sleazy hood. Based on the novel from Philadelphia Bulletin writer William P. McGivern, THE BIG HEAT is a raw blast of 1950s noir.

ANGEL FACE and THE BIG HEAT will be screened as a double feature, with a break in between both films.
